Councillor Jabani Lalara was elected as a Councillor for Anindilyakwa Ward at the March 2012 Local Government Election.
Anindilyakwa Ward
The Anindilyakwa Ward region comprises of the communities of Milyakburra, Umbakumba & Angurugu. The ward covers Groote Eyandt and Bickerton Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Surrounding areas and the township of Alyangula are Registered Mining or Special Purpose Leases. Local Government Services in Alyangula is delivered by GEMCO.
Two (2) Elected Members are selected from the Anindilyakwa Ward for Council. Although the Ward region extends through homelands & outstations, East Arnhem Shire Council delivers services in Milyakburra, Umbakumba & Angurugu.
In March 2012, Councillors Jabani Lalara & Constantine Mamarika were elected to Council.
