North East Arnhemland band East Journey will be kicking off National Youth Week with songs from their new album Guwak at the Youth Suicide & Substance Abuse Prevention Day on Saturday 14 April 2012.
Aiming to educate and inspire youth in East Arnhemland to take action against issues affecting youth in their communities, the Youth Suicide & Substance Abuse Prevention event will be held at the Nhulunbuy Town Hall from 12pm - 3.00pm.
Event Coordinator, Russell Burns said "National Youth Week is the largest celebration of young people in Australia and all community members are welcome to come down and celebrate young people and the positive impact that can have on our community" .
"We have East Journey opening the event and we are expecting some electrifying performances by some of the Nhulunbuy High School Bands. We are putting on lunch, and there are also going to be heaps interactive activities and displays for youth to participate".
"We are excited to be running a National Youth Week event that will reach people in the Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Gunyangara and surrounding areas".
"There will also be an exhibition area with displays and giveaways featuring Miwatj Health, East Arnhem Shire Council, Youth Worx, Laynhapuy Homelands, Nhulunbuy Police, Mission Australia and heaps more".
