Residents of Gapuwiyak and surrounding homelands will now have access to a range of vocational training opportunities with the opening the Gapuwiyak Community Training Centre.
The Honourable Warren Snowdon, Member for Lingiari officially opened the new Gapuwiyak Community Training Centre on Wednesday 21 November with Marrkula Clan representatives.
The new centre is funded by the Australian Government VET Infrastructure for Indigenous People Program, was developed by East Arnhem Shire Council and handed over to Laynhapuy Homelands Association before the official opening.
Councillor Gawura Wanambi of Gumurr Miyarrka Ward said "People of Gapuwiyak now have access to a Training Centre and specialised training equipment to gain workforce skills that will lead to employment".
"The real outcome of this Training Centre and that of our Shire is not a Building, it is the training, skill development and opportunities that this centre will now be able provide for people of Gapuwiyak and surrounding homelands".
