Cemetery Management

East Arnhem Regional Council manages the nine community-controlled cemeteries and provides support to residents in burial and funeral services as per obligations set in the Northern Territory Burial and Cremation Act 2022. 

East Arnhem Regional Council receives financial assistance to maintain and provide ongoing administration of the cemeteries as part of Council’s core services defined in the Northern Territory Local Government Act 2019. Some of these services include: 

• Grave site preparation 
• Cemetery maintenance 
• Ceremonial sand delivery 
• General labour in grave preparation activities 
• Cemetery records management
